In 1990, Mr Keng went into the food business by himself in the teeming Whampoa area and brought fame to the district with his many signature dishes.
Under the dynamic leadership of Mr Keng, Whampoa Keng group of restaurants have grown from a single hawker stall to owning a chain of profitable food outlets with its own central kitchen and catering arm.
To date, his group of restaurants has won many awards with the ultimate culinary accolade for fish head steamboat, being recognised as one of the four heavenly kings in Singapore.
